BLACK HISTORY IN MOTION
Join us for an interview with South Jersey’s local celebrity, Renee Chambers Liciaga as she shares her story of becoming a choreographer, actress, performing arts educator and mentor. From her ancestry with Dr. James Still, The Black Doctor of the Pines, to her Broadway performances she will take us through the exciting creative journey of a performing artist that was sparked by her father, motown artist Roland Chambers and singer, Sandra Chambers.
BIOGRAPHY
Renee was born in Philadelphia PA and is the product of the Philadelphia Sound, Renee is the daughter of the late Roland Chambers (MFSB) guitarist/composer with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff of Philadelphia International Records. Her Mother also sang in the 60’s doo wop group The Orlons. She trained at the Pennsylvania Ballet and Adelphi University with some of the finest mentors in the Performing Arts world. Renee’s professional career spans over 30 years and 12 countries working with such legends as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mercedes Ellington, Donny Osmond and the late Michael Jackson. Performance credits are the Broadway/National and International Companies of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ SuperStar, Starlight Express, West Side Story, Smokey Joes Café Dream Girls, Ain’t Misbehavin, Evita etc.
As a Creative Director Renee has organized and Staged Benefits for the Families of Newtown Connecticut, It takes a Village, Kennedys Cause, The Independence Mission Schools of Philadelphia and other Non Profit organizations dedicated to our Youth and Education. Renee has also Choreographed and Cast for local Casino Commercials and Herrs Potato chips to name a few. As a Director/Choreographer Renee has staged private shows for Jean Ann Ryan Prods, Rowan College at Burlington County and local commercials. Musical Theater credits include; Cats, Smokey Joes Cafe, A Chorus Line (Perry Award Nomination) Godspell, Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie,, Jesus Christ Superstar,(Perry Award Nomination) Kiss Me Kate and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Chambers-Liciaga is active on stage and in front of the camera as well- booking Print/TV/ Commercial work for Chicos Clothing, Spike TV, The Center for Disease Control, West Elm Furniture, Fairlife Milk, Nemours Dupont Children’s Hospital, High5games “Chicago” Broadway, State Farm ,Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Sesame Place and Blue Cross Blue Shield to name a few
