Our mission is to create an environment where the arts flourish.
In 1997, the Medford Arts Center (advisory board) and The Friends of the Medford Cultural Arts were formed to raise funds and create programs for the arts in the Medford area. The two groups presented numerous art shows, concerts and literary events, but always in borrowed facilities. In June of 2009 the Medford Arts Center opened its doors at 18 North Main Street in the heart of Medford Village where it occupied a Victorian home sponsored by the Burlington County Times. In September of 2018 Medford Arts moved to 8 North Main Street into an ADA compliant building with entrances on North Main Street as well as a ramped entrance next to the Medford Gazebo.
The one story totally ADA compliant building has one main gallery and performance space, a secondary gallery space which houses a gift shop, two classrooms, and a private office and kitchen space. The entire building was remodeled to be more conducive to the needs of Medford Arts in the summer of 2018.
The space is used regularly for all types of visual, performing, and literary events and classes throughout the year. This incredibly warm and inviting facility is also available to rent for special events.
The MAC is an all-volunteer, 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
The Board of Directors oversees the financial sustainability and mission of the art center. It is comprised of business representatives, community members and artists who serve as its officers, chairs for the various committees, the Executive Director and advisors.
Volunteer docents greet visitors to the galleries and gift shop Friday and Saturday from 1-8 PM and Sunday from 1-5 PM. Many other volunteers participate in art related projects including exhibition set-up, poetry readings, Dickens Festival and musical concerts. Our social media and promotional team manages a website, Facebook, Instagram, e-blasts, calendar announcements, public relations, brochures and other related material.
A team of Medford Arts Center volunteers and serves as co-organizer of the Medford Art, Wine & Music Festival which takes place on the 2nd Sunday of June each year and Medford Art Walk which is held the 2nd Friday each month from 6-9 PM.
Some of the behind the scenes work includes volunteer recruitment and management, membership development, fundraising, building maintenance and much, much more.
Maintaining such a vibrant artistic environment requires the work of many hands with many skill sets. We welcome you to join in our growth. No art background required.
The MAC is funded through membership, special events, classes, building rentals and corporate and private donations. Additional funding is made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts through a grant to the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
