Peter Rushing

Peter Rushing is a jazz pianist bound for the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he will be studying with Bill O’Connell. Throughout his high school career, he distinguished himself by winning numerous soloist awards with Shawnee High School’s jazz band and earning consistent placement in All Region and All State bands. He also played with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Jazz ensemble program under the direction of Josh Lawrence, Anthony Tidd, Maria Grande, and Sumi Tonooka. Currently, he studies with Tom Lawton of Temple University and the University of the Arts. He has performed at venues such as the Kimmel, South Jazz Kitchen, the Kove (with Larry McKenna), the Mann Center, the Barnes Museum, the Center City Jazz Festival, and the Pinelands Jazz Festival.

Peter can be seen at our Sidewalk Saturday Events performing at the Gazebo from 1-3pm
