Students will use scraps of various colored fabrics to create unique designs. This is a good beginners class for those who have wanted to try their hand at fabric “painting” (ie. Painting with fabric.) You will trace or draw a design that interests you. I will have a few to choose from or you can use your own or just freestyle onto a precut cloth of muslin. Once drawn, you will enjoy filling in the lines with your own colors. You will learn cutting techniques, discuss color combinations, possible finishing techniques, and framing options. Each week, you will have the option to start a new project design or continue on one that you started. See website for supply list. (Note: No sewing machine required, but you may decide to quilt it at home.)
JOY CARTER: INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
I am an experimenter of all things art! Painting, mixed media and quilting are my favorites, so it was natural for me to combine those arts into what I call: “Collage Fabric Painting.” I recently retired from a career of teaching all ages various subjects. I am now excited for the opportunity to use both my skills as a teacher and an artist to introduce others to this fun way of experimenting!
