Jeffrey is excited to bring a beginners watercolor workshop to Medford Art Center this April 2020. This two evening program is a chance to share an exciting medium, watercolor, to those looking for a new means of expression on their creative journey through the fine arts. Jeff has been committed to working in watercolor these past five years and has learned how challenging this medium can be but how satisfying watercolor is as a form of expression. The chance to share some of the basics of watercolor, tricks of the trade and general aspects of color, shapes and composition is an opportunity to excite a new group of beginners who might like to explore one of the classic fine art mediums.
Jeff Chorney : INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
Born and raised in South Jersey, Jeff, has always used art as an opportunity to express the visual world around him. Early in life much of the work was done with other water based media, ink, acrylics and gouache. Recently, since 2015 he has focused solely on using watercolor as his primary fine art medium. As a member of several Delaware Valley art associations Jeff has had a chance to take seminars, workshops and tutorials with many accomplished local and international artists. He has participated in plein aire events and entered local juried shows. Art and painting can be a lifelong companion with no time table to complete or conclude your study. Sharing knowledge and experience as you pass along the journey is a great way to meet and learn from teachers and students. These two evenings will be a chance for Jeff to help a new group of interested explorers find comfort and confidence with water and pigment.
This introductory program will discuss some art history, some ideas about self-expression, fundamentals of watercolor as an expressive medium, and how to think like a watercolor artist in preparation of subjects, composition and painting subject matter. There is no need to acquire a lot of expensive materials or equipment as most supplies will be provided. We look forward to meeting you and hope you’ll bring a bag full of questions and a palette full of enthusiasm. See you there!
