Introduction to Portrait Lighting for Photographers
Wednesday, 7 – 9pm September 26 – October 31 Member Cost: $150 Non-member Cost: $165 Instructor: Sara Ascalon
Lighting is the key to compelling portraiture yet it is often intimidating to beginner and seasoned photographers alike. Begin to embrace light as a source of creativity and expression through a basic understanding of the principles of light. We’ll explore techniques to shape and create dynamic images with carefully crafted light and shadow. You’ll have an opportunity to work hands-on with studio lighting and modifiers and learn how to transform a snapshot into a portrait. A camera with hot shoe is required.
SARA ASCALON: INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
Photography allows me to reproduce my vision in a shareable, accessible form, whether it’s the things I see with my eyes or mind. From the things you see every day and tend to overlook to the absolutely extraordinary, it’s a strange and wonderful world. I seek to share that wonder -real and imagined-in my images and inspire and embolden my students to unleash their own creativity.
